How to Move WhatsApp Chat History to a Different Device

Since WhatsApp is now a necessary component of our everyday communication, moving to a new device requires transferring our chat history. Thank goodness, WhatsApp provides a variety of options to carry your chat history without losing any of the important chats. We’ll take a step-by-step look at these techniques in this guide.

Using the built-in backup feature of WhatsApp

On your outdated device, open WhatsApp and click the three dots in the top right corner.
Then choose “Settings” > “Chats” > “Chat backup.”
To make a recent backup of your chats, tap “Back Up Now”.
On your new smartphone, download WhatsApp, then confirm your phone number.
WhatsApp will identify the backup during setup, and you can restore the conversation log.
Using iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android)

On your previous handset, select “Settings” > “Chats” > “Chat backup.”
Then select “Back up to Google Drive” (for Android) or “Back up now” (for iOS).
On your new smartphone, download WhatsApp, then confirm your phone number.
WhatsApp will ask you to restore from Google Drive (Android) or iCloud (iOS) during setup.
Android to Android Local Transfer:

Both devices can be linked together by Bluetooth or a USB cord.
Open WhatsApp on the outdated device hit the three dots, then select “Settings” > “Chats” > “Chat backup.”
Transfer the backup folder to the WhatsApp folder on the new device (often found in ‘WhatsApp/Databases’).
Remember to maintain Wi-Fi connectivity and battery life on both devices throughout the transfer. You may quickly relocate your WhatsApp chat history using these techniques.
