Since its release, Google Home’s redesigned app has only gotten better. Google has been collecting feedback since the October 2022 public peek and has made numerous improvements to the app as a result. The business even released a Google Home script editor online so users could use YAML to construct more sophisticated home automation. However, not everyone is proficient in using the scripting language. Thus, in early October, the business unveiled AI integration for the online script editor, enabling anyone to build sophisticated automation. A public preview of the generative AI integration is now underway.

You can leverage generative AI and natural prompts to develop new automation using Google Home’s online script editor thanks to a new “help me script” function. For customers who wish to create their automation but lack the necessary coding skills, this update will come in useful. Google’s announcement demonstrates how you can develop a customized automation script that will automatically operate two smart home devices when a pre-defined condition is fulfilled by using a prompt such as “When the TV turns on after sunset, dim the living room lights and close the blinds.”

Before creating the automation, you must transfer the resulting code into Google Home’s script editor. You can alter and modify the resulting code as needed. You can utilize the generative AI in Google Home’s script editor to help you get started and make things easier, even if you are not comfortable writing the script needed to create complicated automation despite having some coding experience.

It goes without saying that for the generated automation to function, you must own the necessary (and compatible) smart devices. As of right now, generative AI can only be used online to write Google Home automation scripts. The mobile app does not have this functionality.

No new features are being added by triggers and schedules to Google Home as part of the most recent release. The most recent improvement, which included many activities and nine new hires, arrived in late August.
